Capital - the city of Trenton, the largest city - Newark. The official nickname - "The State of gardens» (Garden State).

North-west state took no very high mountains, but otherwise, the terrain is mostly flat. The climate in New Jersey warm. In January, the air temperature around about zero (Celsius), and in July about 30 degrees Celsius.

In ancient times the territory of the state was settled by Lenape Indians. Dutch settlers began to settle here in 1630. The region came under the power of England in 1664. The British didn’t always behave consistently. Initially (in 1676) for some reason they devided New Jersey into East Jersey and West Jersey. And then (in 1702) they joined two colonies back into one. 

In 1721 there was one village, which was founded by William Trent (William Trent). In fact, it was, of course, the village. But Trent has called the village "Trent's Town".  As a result, the village of Trent actually grew up in town. And even in 1790 became the capital of the state. This town is now called the Trenton (Trenton). 

Flag of New Jersey has an orange cross in the middle. Two women represent freedom and fertility. The year of adoption of Independence – 1776- was written on the tape. State Flag was officially adopted in 1896. 

December 18, 1787 New Jersey became the third state, entered into the United States.

The first highway in New Jersey was built in 1951. The first ski jump in 1963. In 1978,  Atlantic City had legalized gambling, and opened its first casino. Atlantic City is the only U.S. city except Las Vegas, where casinos are allowed to be built on the land.
